“You’re invited to an after-sneak dinner hosted by the Class of 2027!”
As weary seniors filed out of the bus returning from their annual sneak, a host of juniors stood at the exit, handing out dinner invitations exclusive to the Class of 2026 and their sponsors. Pocketing the cream-colored invitations in their duffels and backpacks, the seniors, with growing anticipation for the following dinner, reunited with their families and headed home for some much-needed rest.
On the following Monday, succeeding an eventful Senior Sneak at Nomad Adventure in Gopeng, Ipoh, a crowd of excited seniors poured into Heritage Chapel, buzzing with anticipation. The after-sneak dinner, carefully planned and assembled by their subsequent juniors, was a long-standing tradition that both classes looked forward to each year.
Met with a crowd of welcoming juniors roaring with applause at the doors, the seniors marveled at the decorations upon entry. This year’s celebration was themed around a vibrant night market, as evidenced by the lively space filled with colorful lights, cardboard truck setups, and creative decorations that captured the energy of Penang’s classic street fairs. Strings of warm lights hung across the room, instantly creating a festive atmosphere that welcomed everyone inside. The food trucks, each decorated with colorful designs, not only served as fun backdrops but also embodied the effort poured into the evening by the juniors.
According to Eliza Setzfand (11), the Junior ExCom had planned the evening around the Class of 2026’s junior class store theme of “Munchtrucks,” creating a fun play on the words with multiple dinner options for the seniors to pick from individual food trucks.
The lively decorations and food, however, were just the beginning of a meticulously planned evening. When asked about the highlights of the after-sneak dinner, the unanimous answer was the entertainment. The lineup for the evening was as follows: interactive games, dances, trivia, and a chaotic karaoke session. All seniors were united by their appreciation for the entertainment and only divided by their personal preferences to which.
“My favorite part was the dancing that they prepared. It was really funny and well planned,” Joshua Stevens (12) noted.
“I thought the evening was really creative. My favorite part was when we sang 'Eenie Meenie' by Justin Bieber during karaoke,” Anna Chand (12) remarked.
With entertainment being central to the event, the night was filled with laughter and cheers as the line between the juniors and seniors blurred to create a single community under the stars.
