"Surf Shack S(h)ellers and Senior Sneak" by Erin Lee

As students headed out of the bus and onto the beach of Tioman Island, it marked the fateful beginning of the course of the next 5 days of Senior Sneak hosted by the local organizers, Little Planet. 

Tioman Island provided the seniors with beautiful views of the ocean and forest jungles, and Little Planet provided them with the activities that allowed the students to sightsee everything in full relish. Students got to explore the ocean through kayaking, snorkeling, and the jetty jump, and experienced one of Tioman’s beautiful rainforests through an extensive hike featuring a waterfall.

As Little Planet led the seniors through the island, many students were able to try out new activities they wouldn’t typically do in Penang and step out of their comfort zones. “Even though it was scary at first, I felt fulfilled afterwards,” remarked Rebecca Seo (12) as she excitedly spoke about her experience with the jetty jump. 

Aside from just the physical activities and views the seniors got to see, however, they were also able to depart from Sneak with knowledge that they didn’t know before. 

Before heading out into the sea and embarking on their experiences with snorkeling, the instructors at Little Planet provided them with information about the various sea creatures in the ocean that the students could spot - including but not limited to sea cucumbers, parrotfish, and coral. When the seniors embarked on a farming project to plant tapioca, they learned about composting. Last but not least, the seniors were able to learn about the egg laying pattern of green and hawksbill sea turtles, as well as how single use plastic and waste affects both turtles and sea coral via pollution. 

Sneak, overall, was a valuable experience for the Class of 2027 - whether it was through stepping out of comfort zones and trying new things or learning about Tioman’s nature and plastic, everyone was able to take away something.

While most people had a fun week for mid-semester break, whether it was spent with family, or with friends on impact trips, no one had a more emotionally confusing week than Judson Kenneth Robert Nosker (12).  In the light of recent events, Judson, despite all odds, had gotten in a relationship with one of his classmates, and as the break started, he had started to spend a lot of time with her. While with her, he started to experience a new level of joy and completeness that he had never felt before. In the words of Judson Nosker, “The first half of the break was good, but the rest of it was horrible.”  The reason for such a quote and the roller coaster of emotion was because half way through the break, disaster had struck. "Spikeball, Swimming, and Sickness: The Remnants of Senior Sneak" by Ee Rynn Ong

“Guys, I think we’re here,” said Jonathan Ooi (12) as he peeked out of the lorry to catch the first glimpse of our Senior Sneak location. This year’s Senior Sneak was held in Nomad Adventure, Gopeng, and the organizers planned many activities for the Class of 2026, ranging from traditional games like congkak and batu seremban to adrenaline-pumping ropes courses and whitewater rafting. These scheduled activities proved to be some of the best highlights of the trip, but top of that, the seniors were also given some daily free time to chat, explore, and relax. Josh Stevens (12) had come prepared for this with two spikeball nets, which immediately attracted attention from people eager to spend time in the outdoor sun.
