Not many seniors can believe the way time flies. With graduation a week away, many students are reflecting on their journeys at Dalat. No matter if you started in elementary school or joined just this year, soon you will be able to say that you’ve graduated together.
We all benefited from Dalat differently. There were certain people who even marked their years in high school by participation in the NFL. More popularly, people chose to surround themselves with sports, joining varsity teams, D-league, regional tournaments, and ACSC trips. Some opted for the stage, performing well-rehearsed lines in front of hundreds, conveying their emotions through exaggeration, tone, and body language. Others focused on clubs that carried their learning beyond the classroom, or devoted their time to service and chapels.
Rebekah Wood (12), leader of Student Impact Club, explained, “It was rewarding to see how even just showing up put a smile on kids’ faces. I was able to build true connections with the people I served that I will carry with me forever.”
Despite our different interests, we all got to bond over special events in Senior year.
In Semester 1, we enjoyed Senior Sunrise, Junior-Senior dodgeball, and a Christmas class party. At Senior Sneak we went white water rafting, played games, made kueh and did an obstacle course.
In Semester 2, we had Color Wars, Eaglet Games and Class Outings to go roller skating, bowling and to Escape. At Senior Transition Retreat, we got advice from our teachers, asked questions to our hearts content, and had a fun afternoon at the arcade. Of course, no one can forget the Junior-Senior Banquet (JSB), where we were celebrated by the Juniors, and After-JSB, where we thanked them for a wonderful night. Most recently, we decorated the school for our Senior Prank.
These events made our school life so much more fun. Even over day-to-day classes and lunches, we made friends with classmates and got to know teachers better than we had ever expected to. The years of high school went by in the blink of an eye. To all my friends, teachers, and school staff, thank you for making Dalat an unforgettable chapter in my life.
