A week before, the atmosphere at Dalat was exceptionally warm. Although the unpredictable rainy weather has been annoying us, it was the energy of our staff community gathering for our annual Thanksgiving lunch. Seeing every single national and international staff member in one place, chatting and interacting, was awesome. It showed us a powerful reminder of how connected we are as a school community.
This event is a highlight because it removes any imaginary dividing lines within the school. Getting to see all the staff, whether they were a national or international staff member, or if they've been here for decades or if just arrived, everyone was simply a colleague and a friend celebrating our shared community. That feeling of togetherness is what makes the day so memorable and truly makes Dalat feel like one huge family.
But the real attention seeker of the lunch, as always, was the food, and the incredible initiative shown by our parents and staff. They truly went above expectations, volunteering their time and effort to bring in an amazing feast for everyone to enjoy. The tables were filled with everything, from American Thanksgiving dishes to delicious local favourites. It shows how the community loved giving back, ensuring that everyone felt appreciated.
Thanksgiving is more than just a massive meal; it's an important tradition that encourages us to pause and reflect on everything we have to be thankful for. In our lives, especially when it's busy, it's easy to forget to celebrate the tiniest things and the amazing people around us. This lunch gave that pause, appreciated the hard work of our whole staff, and recognized the immense support we receive from our parents.
The warm, shared feeling of the day definitely felt like a perfect bridge to the next big holiday. As soon as I saw all the staff leaving after lunch, I swear I could hear Christmas music starting! With the successful lunch behind us, it feels like the Christmas season has officially begun, filling the hallways with even more festive cheer and anticipation. What a great way to close out the pre-holiday stretch. Celebrating the wonderful people who make Dalat run and heading straight into December feels like the best kind of reset.
